Are the apartments at Bob Hope Village furnished?
You bring your own furniture and decor for your apartment at Bob Hope Village. All apartments include major appliances. Villages 1-4 apartments offer standard appliances in each unit which include a stove, refrigerator, garbage disposal, and dishwasher. Village 5 apartments offer upgraded appliances which include a stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. Village 6 apartments will have upgraded appliances similar to Village 5; however, Village 6 appliances include a gas range and dryer, and a tankless water heater.
May I bring my car to Bob Hope Village?
Yes, please bring your car with you to Bob Hope Village if you are actively driving. Bob Hope Village offers plenty of parking for resident owned vehicles.
Is parking assigned at Bob Hope Village?
Parking is not assigned at Bob Hope Village 1-4. Every parking space is in close proximity to apartment front doors.
Is transportation available at Bob Hope Village?
Yes, Bob Hope Village offers bus service with regularly scheduled trips to the local commissaries and exchanges, grocery stores, and other shopping centers. Our transportation department is also available to drive residents to and from local medical appointments for a small fee.
Are meals included with my monthly service fee?
Bob Hope Village does not have a dining plan. Each apartment at Bob Hope Village has a full kitchen with full size appliances for cooking your meals. A cafe is conveniently located in The Commons (community center) and is open Monday through Friday for lunch service. You may dine there with your friends and neighbors or choose delivery for a small fee.
Can my adult child or my grandchild live with me at Bob Hope Village?
Occupancy at Bob Hope Village is only for those who meet our eligibility criteria.
Are Bob Hope Village residents allowed overnight guests?
Yes, you are welcome to have overnight guests visit you at Bob Hope Village. You may have up to 30 overnight guest stays per year.
Are apartments available at Bob Hope Village for overnight guests?
We have three guest apartments that are fully furnished and available to your guests for a fee. Guest apartments may be used when you come to visit Bob Hope Village and take a tour, or for our residents' visiting family or guests.
Are pets allowed at Bob Hope Village?
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted at Bob Hope Village, and guests are not permitted to bring pets on the campus. We do have therapy pets that visit regularly as part of our activities program.
How long am I required to live at Bob Hope Village annually?
At Bob Hope Village, we understand that our residents enjoy being on the go. We ask that you are "home" a minimum of six months out of each year.
How much does it cost to be placed on the "wait list" for Bob Hope Village?
No deposit is necessary to be placed on the Bob Hope Village wait list.
As a couple, do we both need to be 55 years of age to reside at Bob Hope Village?
Bob Hope Village is a retirement community for active, independent adults over the age of 55. As a couple, both prospective residents will need to be 55 years of age or older to reside at Bob Hope Village.
Does Bob Hope Village have a medical alert system in place?
All Bob Hope Village residents receive a wearble medical alert pendant. You must wear the pendant in order for our staff to reach you in the event of an emergency. If you lose the pendant, there is a replacement fee.
What activities are available at Bob Hope Village?
Bob Hope Village has a robust activities department that offers day trips, dining out trips, arts and crafts classes, holiday meals, and special parties for socializing with friends and neighbors.
Does Bob Hope Village have security guards?
Bob Hope Village is a gated campus with two entrances. Each entrance has security guards working after 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Security guards are on duty 24 hours a day on Saturdays and Sundays.
Is Bob Hope Village near a United States Air Force base?
Bob Hope Village is near Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field. Since our residents must be DoD ID holders, residents may participate in shopping, recreation, and medical services available at Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field.
May I use the pharmacy at Eglin AFB?
Most Bob Hope Village residents utilize the medical services including pharmacy services at Eglin AFB. Our transportation department has a prescription pick up service for Eglin AFB pharmacy. Prescriptions are picked up for Bob Hope Village residents every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Are Bob Hope Village and the Air Force Enlisted Village part of the United States Air Force?
The Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) is a private, nonprofit (501c3) organization who owns and operates Bob Hope Village, an active, independent living retirement community, and Hawthorn House, an assisted living residence on the Bob Hope Village campus. AFEV's core mission is to provide a home for surviving spouses of retired enlisted Air Force personnel.
Must I have low income to reside at Bob Hope Village?
Some Bob Hope Village residents are not low income but they enjoy the carmaraderie, services, conveniences, and affordability of Bob Hope Village by paying privately. For Bob Hope Village residents who may be in financial need, AFEV's Benevolence Program may be an option to help with subsidized monthly service fees.
How do I apply for the Benevolence Program?
AFEV's Benevolence Program is only available to Air Force surviving spouses whose income and assets are low. Please contact our Admissions Department at 850-651-3766 for more information.
How much is rent at Bob Hope Village?
At Bob Hope Village, residents pay a monthly service fee instead of rent. Bob Hope Village is so much more than an apartment complex. Bob Hope Village residents not only have an affordable and beautiful apartment, they also have access to on-site conveniences like transportation service, prescription pick up service, a fitness center, wellness classes, planned activities, a swimming pool, a chapel, a library, a hair and nail salon, a cafe, and a caring staff. Bob Hope Village residents also enjoy the carmeraderie of residing in a community with others who share the common bond of the military.
